"Black paint theory". Having some problems...

The comments below regarding 'black paint theory' prompt me to post this problem.
This is an '85 Aero in black. I think it is the original paint job, and it is generally in excellent condition ('see your face in it' quality. However, the paint around the rear right fender has cracked; about one inch up from the flare, in a curve that's about one foot long. It looks like a stress crack.
This seems a little 'strange' to me, and a little worrisome too!
Anyone else had this problem? I'm taking it to a panel shop to get it looked at and to get spots of rust out the doors (usual place). Any comments gratefully received.
Regards
Jo K
