First, the ABS light...
Some problems with an aftermarket alarm system and destroyed stick-in-reverse-to-extract-key feature led me to unplug and plug my battery a few times. After some uplug and plug back ins my ABS light would stay on, and after others it would go off. At the moment it is on and don't want to detach posts again. Easy fix? I know it is related to fuse 7 from the manual, but I am ignorant beyond that.
Rear defrost...
My rear defrost works, but only the bottom half of it. No evident break in "wires" on back window...any other possible remedies?
Eratic fuel...
Last summer, the car gave up on me after driving five hours without incident
the day before. It acted almost as if it was getting no fuel, although
sometimes now it acts as though it gets too much fuel. After towing it the
rest of the way home, it sat in a mechanics yard for two weeks when he got
around to looking at it, and when he hooked it up to a battery(we hauled it
at night so the battery died keeping the lights on) it started right up.
Nothing was done to it as it seemed to be working fine for awhile, but on my
way out in August, the second day of my trip it acted worn out and did not
want to start. It especially did not want to start after the accident, but
that is beside the point.
When I got it back over Christmas break, it started hard even in warm
storage. Then the strange symptoms began. Driving around town the throttle
often catches, keeping the RPMs around 2.5, although with enough breaking I
can usually get it over the spell. At home in Maine the mornings were very
cold, around zero often, so three out of five mornings each week it would
not start, even if it were kept in the garage. One time I got 1/8 of a mile
down the road and it stalled out on me. Thinking the problem related to
fire, I replaced the sparkplugs as well as the distributor cap. I also
replaced the fuel filter, not knowing how long the other had been on there.
So as you see, it both seems to get too much fuel sometimes, when pressing
on the gas quickly it hesitates as if it has a heavy load, before
accelerating efficiently, and other times it seems to get too little fuel,
when it stalls out randomly.
Now here at school where it is around 30 degrees, it started on the first
try even after sitting a week. Seems like a lot of mixed signals I am
giving you, but that is how it acts.
Since the front end accident, the radiators have been replaced, as well as
the distributor cap, due to their proximity to the front. The parts were
taken from an 89 900, if that helps any.
