Ian, the "S" model designation means that the car came with all of the options (except that turbo thingy). The turbo models, though, did not necessarily come with all options. One of these options is a deluxe equipment package, which I think it was optional on any model. In '92, I believe this equipment package included automatic door locks, headlight/interior light shutoff timer, and the one-touch windows. (I got most of this info from my owner's manual which is in the car now.)
Also, from my superficial tinkering, I would agree that the window switch feels like a mechanical catch. It doesn't appear to be a timer because if you just push it quickly but lightly it will not catch, though if you push it hard it will stay down. Sometimes mine refuses to go back up, causing the motor run continuously and make a faint clicking noise. Anyway, I would guess that you can find these switches in all "S" models built between '82? and '92 and SOME others with the deluxe equipment package. Happy Hunting!
