Tire Selection and Snow Driving... Posted by JustinHiFi [Email] (#829) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JustinHiFi) on Mon, 7 Jan 2002 02:39:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Well I made it back up to Marietta today without any complications. It was 938 miles each way to/from FL. Anyway on to the questions...
I am going to get new tires tommoarw. I have Michilen MX-4 185/65-R15s that are very worn. (Yea I know, great to make a 1k trip on...) I have been looking at the P4000 and the MX-4. I like the aggresive tread of the P4000 but have been satisfied with the dry/wet performance with the MX-4. They TOTALLY suck in the light snow now. I plan on mainly sticking around this area in SE Ohio, but will make frequent trips to Akron Ohio to visit my girlfiend. I will probably be going to Buffalo as well once during the winter season. (Yes yes, the place that got like 6-7 feet of snow in 3 days!)
On to driving... When starting out in first, does it hurt the differencial or transmission if one side or both slip some? Not like powershifting through the gears or flooring it it gear breaking the tires loose, but just slippage from the tires. What about when they break loose while in gear when going up a hill for instance?
Thanks,
JustinHiFi
