Exhaust Gasket? plus others

I have an 86 SPG with a few mods including upgraded turbo (SPG9) and I have really developed a noticeable exhaust leak and I was thinking about do this myself. I have read the Bentley and wondered which is the best trick for getting manifold past motor mount. Do you loosen motor mount bolts and jack engine up? or other ways? Is there a step by step on a website somewhere. Tricks on not breaking bolts? Also how can you clean out turbo oil pipes (pipe cleaners)? What do you use to clean surfaces? Do you always have to have it milled? One last questions. Upon reviewing the underside of my exhaust gasket I notice that there is like a shimming/spacer gasket that almost feels like hard rubber. Do I have to get that as well?
Thanks ahead of time.
Jack
