Im interested to hear anything positive or negitive about the mobil 1 revision. I use Mobil1 15w-50 in the summer because the car is subjected to serious driving in serious heat here in atlanta, where every day is an autocross. plus it runs pretty hot, apparantly a pretty natural C900 occurance. (3/4ths on coolant temp.) In the winter i use 10w-30 allthough i want to try 0w-40 next season. 15w-50 is simply too thick for sub 50 degree starts in my car. the oil press takes about 2 full seconds on first cold start in morning. and w/ 10w-30 its about 3/4ths second.
question: is there anyway i can convert the 'viscocity' of a multigrade oill so that the first 'w' number equalls the same proportion of viscocity as the 2nd number? for instance say 10w-30.....
the oil is thicker at cold temps than hot temps, but the cold temp scale is on a different scale than the hot temp rating. Hence the W
i would like to have a number like 52-30. note no W. this is just a guess as to what the real number might be. i realise this is an extremly obscure question, but im quite interested to know. thanks
