I concur with Anders on all counts.
You should be good to go -- 4 hours with that pump was probably excessive. Mine drew down to 26" after about 40 minutes, which was fine. It was probably a better pump.
There's still the possibility the system will leak with R-134a in it, especially the high pressure side which includes the hose to the condenser and from there back through the filter/drier to the expansion valve. But if it does, at least you'll be able to service it with R-134a yourself after you fix the leak. That was part of my rationale for switching over.
Turn the compressor a few times by hand after you get it mounted but before you start the car. This will work the lube through it a bit. You can turn the pump by hand even with the belt on; just turn the outer wheel. Again, don't do that with the engine running.
The low pressure switch will prevent the compressor from coming on until you have about half a can of refrigerant in, then it will kick on.
Good luck, Ed!
