Last nite i gave my '86 900S an oil change in the parking lot of Pep Boys, then drove to other side of the parking lot, did some food shopping, then drove the 10 minute trip home.
Tonite, DEAD BATTERY.
If you've read any of my recent threads you'll know that my radio is on the blink, could it be that although off, the radio was draining the battery (and would 24 hours be long enough to drain the battery)? While i was having radio woes, i did pull the radio and cage and then had to fish around in there with my hand to find a lost cord.... is there anything that i could have dislodged to cause this dead battery condition? I would think that all the vital alternator/battery components would be under the hood and not behind the dash.
I did get a jump tonite and it took 2 tries to jump it, but it now runs. I pulled the radio from the cage so if that's part of the problem it'll still start tomorrow. I also unplugged the alarm to create less battery usage while the car isn't running.
Just a fluke, likely the "fried" radio, or could i have hit some vital wire behind the dash when seeking the lost cord? The battery is <1 year old, and i didn't leave the interior light on overnite. Also, after i got it started, the RPMs fished around a bit before steadying at their normal 850 RPMs at idle.
As always... THANKS!!!
