How to build a DIY Regulated Pressure Brake Bleeder Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
First, thanks to Pat Price for lending me his pressure bleeder. I used his on 1 car, then built my own. Here's how I did it.
Get the fittings and parts at home depot for your air compressor. I spent a little over $30 for everything, but you can spend a little less by getting a cheaper regulator. Mine was $20, they have one for about $15, too.
The pictures speak for themselves. Here are some tips:
The cap I used is from Wal-Mart and cost me $1.67+tax. It's part of the cap for a red gas can, the kind you'd use to store lawn mower fuel. It's the outer most cap, the one that covers the spout. The appx. inner diamter is 1 3/4".
I made 2 cap assemblies and 1 works far better than the other. Take the cap and drill it just big enough to slide the air fitting into. Then JBWeld the washer inside the cap. This way the cap is rather snug, and there is no JB-Weld on the washer/cap side.
I used a 1/2" I.D. / 2" O.D. rubber washer and trimmed it to fit in the cap. I couldn't find one that fit off the shelf, so I trimmed it down. That was all of $0.50
