This is how you remove the ignition lock. Just clean it and lubricate with lithium grease. Then clean the hole and lubricate it too. That will solve the sticking problem. Sticking is caused by coffee and soda and crap buildup in the lock.

"...Ignition is tricky for a first time, but if yours is a second time, it is a breeze. Remove console over lock(may require seat removal). Lots of small Torx type screws of 2 differing sizes. There is a rubber thing between the floor console and the console that holds the equilizer/is under the ashtray in turbo models and "S" models. The striped/ribbed rubber piece need to be removed to expose 2 more screws. Place key in ignition lock and then look for a small hole to the driver's side of the lock along the side of the floor assembly. If this is the first time, you will need to drill out the aluminum plug in the hole in order to reveal the hollow tunnel in there. For some reason Saab plugs this thing at the factory, (probably anti-theft), but the hole is pre-drilled to allow access. Then you need to force a thin bent screwdriver or ice-pick into this hole and keep pressure on it and turn the key until you feel the ice-pick push in further. This means the spring loaded retainer is depressed. Then pull the key up and the lock cylinder will follow it. Then replace with new cylinder. A good idea is to look at the new lock before removing the old one so as to understand how the spring loaded retainer works and only depresses with the key rotated to the "accessory" position.

The work is technically easy but does require time..."
