assuming it's the same for both 99 & 900 models:
you've got a bolt/washer screwed into the end that you are pulling on to remove the shaft, right? the clutch shaft is held in place with a snap ring around it; can apparently be tough to get off sometimes. what you need to do is figure out a way to exert a large and constant pulling force on the bolt/washer. what i did was use a small, flat stanley brand crowbar that had a hole drilled through it for pulling nails. i threaded this bar through the bolt and then jammed a pry bar behind it. get creative here or get a helper, because next thing you're gonna do is put the car in 4th gear, release e-brake, and rock the car back & forth. this should pop the shaft free.
