change should take < 5min. I got my accumulator from sobstory 800-583-0370 with tips from the service manager there.
1) With ignition off, pump brakes 25 times to completely relieve system pressure. This will prevent any fluid spray.
2)Remove old accumulator with 3/8 ratchet and 8mm allen socket. It's tight, but mine came off after being on there for 13 years.
3) Screw new accumulator on by hand and tighten with the allen socket. While i have no idea of torque spec, I tightened to about 25 ft-lbs of torque. It screws onto a housing that is mounted in rubber grommets so I did not want to overtighten.
4) No need to bleed brakes after replacement, because the accumulator sits on top of the system.
5) I will be flushing the whole system when I get a helper on an upcoming weekend. I have a hunch that the ABS pump likes fresh fluid and hates any water and the lights went out faster the last time I flushed. But even prior to this flush, brakes are performing fine with 18 mo old fluid.
