Here's my situation. (the voltage regulator was replaced last yr).
When I start up my car in the morning, the car starts up fine but the battery light stays on and the engine makes this squealing noise. Like the belts are loose. I check the voltage gauge and it reads a tab below 12 volts. I let the car warm up for about 10min, come back to the car and the battery light is still on. I rev the engine once or twice and the voltage light goes out and the gaude reads about 14 volts.
Now on my commute to work, the car squeals loudly when I put it in gear and anytime I have load on the engine. When I'm coasting in neutral or coming to a stop sign, the squeal becomes a light pitched squeal, but it's at a constant low tone.
From what I could find in my search of the saabnet site, it could be one of two things:
1) Harmonic balancer
or
2) alternator bearings?
Not sure what could be causing this.
What are you're experiences with this issue?
Thx
ANGELO
