I just took everything apart on the gear shifter box.. replaced the lower ball and lower plastic housing that was cracked.. also replaced the rubber grommet / bellows kinda part that attaches to the firewall that the shift rod goes through.
problem now is.. after a couple of hours and greese falling into my eyeballs!! I managed to get the tapered pin and the new coupler on..
not without starting the car.. pushing down on the clutch petal. it will go into 1st, 2nd and 3rd.. but won't even move in the direction of 4th or 5th..
anyone have any advice.. please don't tell me I need to take the taper pin and coupler off again.. that is a total PITA.. my eyes are still burning from the grease chunks!!
any advice will be very much appreciated.. tomorrow is another day..
