Dunno WHY I had Amsoil Syn 5/30 bought for this oil change but it's in there now; it's all I had to refill with. This would've been just fine last Fall, before I'd be working a Winter of nights with lethally cold starts in -20-40F but now I'm looking at a lot of hi-speed hiway miles and then a lot of hi-temp traffic after I drive down to the SouthEast (Alabama) for the Summer.
I know it's probably a dopey question to all the members who've done so much research and debating on oils here, but I have to ask: Is Amsoil 5w30 going to be too thin in warm weather? Yes my mileage is high but No Amsoil doesn't leak out of it like a sieve: I'm just wondering if I'm asking for trouble (in terms of internal wear, not leakage) going thinner and warmer at the same time, particularly since once I drive away from here I don't think I'll have a good opportunity to change again for 5-7k at least...
So are 5/30 and 10/30 in the engine functionally/protectively the same at 80 mph?
