The clutch & brake master cylinders take fluid from the same reservoir. But fluid contamination should be the only way for them to interact. There's a dam of sorts to separate part of the reservoir, so if the clutch leaks, it can't completely drain the reservoir. Same if the brakes leak.
The master cylinders (either one) leaks back into the reservoir. Everyone talks about it leaking past the seals, but the fact that it leaks back into the reservoir explains why it doesn't leak OUT.
Slowly sinking brake pedal just about HAS to be a bad master cylinder. I don't think a bad vacuum booster can behave that way.
