The master from your parts car will work - they're the same part.
My comment on the spring was more of a heads-up for something additional that might be wrong. It doesn't always occur but, if it does, you can be SOL without a backup. The spring isn't sold separately, as far as I can find.
The spring in the master cylinder doesn't exert any noticeable force at the pedal. When you look at the master cylinder yoke, which presses on the piston in the cylinder, you'll see that it's not rigidly connected to the piston, so the pedal can return to its all-the-way-up position but the piston can still remain pushed in a bit. When that happens, the master cylinder can't fully replenish any fluid that's leaked back past the seals, so the pedal sinks.
The varnish ring at the opening of the master cylinder that I mentioned earlier can lift up the outer seal and let a small bit of air in. That also contributes to low pedal.
