I used the Hepu kit which came with the gasket. Eeuroparts sells it. I can't imagine there can be too much difference between gaskets - other can color.
I helped my friend change a water pump on his jeep wrangler. The gasket was like a sticker - you removed a thin sheet of plastic and stuck it into place. I don't think the sticky stuff was any type of sealant but was just to help keep it in place during the installation of the pump. We were having problems because we didn't understand at first that the plastic needed to be removed from the gasket and consequently the gasket wasn't sealing. I've never seen that type of gasket used on a saab, but I don't know where you got your parts. Could that be the case with your gasket?
What kind of pump and gasket have you been using?
