Steering Rack adjustment nut and sealer? Posted by SaabDude [Email] (#370) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SaabDude) on Thu, 10 Apr 2008 19:30:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello all. My steering has developed a leak from behind the adjustment nut (according to my Indie mechanic)...
I've searched all the threads on the subject and can't find anything... so HELP PLEASE?
As I'm a little short on cash-- here's the scenario:
Over the past couple months, I've been thru 3 bottles of the LUCAS conditioner/stop leak, but it's still leaking. So I took it to my Indie and they said it's leaking from behind the "adjustment nut"...
I called and got great advice as usual from Tim at East-of-Sweden (they rebuilt my engine-and shipped it to Texas!).. but Tim's advice was to replace the rack (which I can afford.. it's just the 3.5 to 5 hours labor that I can't right now..)
I know this will be a band-aid fix for now.. but can the Indie "safely" remove the adjusting nut, and maybe use gasket sealer or something to stop/extremely slow down the leak?...
Thanks !
