Bad belt - with picture. Replacement Diy? Posted by Frank [Email] (#2509) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Frank) on Thu, 25 Sep 2008 18:45:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Was cruising down the highway towards Petaluma, about 70-80mph, and noticed a plume of blue smoke behind me. I suspected I was burning a lot of oil, but the found that the blue smoke originated from the front (windshield side) of the engine at the belts.
From the looks of things the belt (belts?) are shot and were slipping causing smoke.
Can I replace them DIY (have some tools, experience and a driveway) or should I take it to an indy mechanic in the SF bay area? How much will it cost?
btw - car is a 1993 900s convertible.
Thanks,
Frank
