Hey! Thanks for the great tip on the glove box door light. It probably would have taken me hours if I had not extended the wires as you suggested. Even removal was a pain I unscrewed the nut on the face of the switch pushed the switch through, removed the dash and unplugged the three black wires from the switch.
The white face gauges... I took the speedo and tach and masking taped off each needle carefully. I removed the screws holding the black metal plate and masked underneath the mileage and odometer. Then masked everything off I did not want to be white. I actually spray painted each face gauge with white enamel hobby paint. For the boost, fuel, and temp gauge I carefully dremeled off each needle. Masked off the heads of each gauge and spray painted it white. For the speedo I made a fine slit with an exacto knife (fine blade) between the mileage and the hole for the speedo needle. I was able to slide the needle through the mileage rectangle and slip it through the slit into the hole. If you look straight on at the speedo the round piece holding the needle is nearest to the mileage so that's where I made the cut. For the tac I enlarged the hole slightly for the needle. The reason I painted the metal plates white is when you place the plastic white face gauges over it you only see white. I made a diagonal slit just large enough to slide the tac needle through. Even when you look from the side you cannot tell the hole for the needle has been enlarged because it is white on white. For the boost, temp, and fuel I enlarged the three holes slightly and made four slits on each hole, two horizontally and two diagonally then slipped the white face gauge over carefully. I had another cluster where I removed the three needles and crazy glued them in place. The temp and fuel needles are slighly different than the boost needle from the bottom plus there are 'pins' that align the needles to the faces. I then painted all the needles flourescent orange.
Once it's all in you cannot tell or see the slits. I tried to remove the needles on several clusters only to destroy them. I am pretty careful and I juse could not get the needles off and on with confidence so I figured if I did not remove the needles at all, all should be good.
Send me your e-mail address and I will send you pics of the whole process plus the finished install. I owe you for that glove box light tip!
Thanks.
Cliff
