Hello all,My rear brake suddenly started grinding and sticking when I got it home the rear right was smoking could smell the horrid brake odor knew I probably fried the pad, rotor maybe the caliper. It did not completely lock up so I clamped that hose off to get it to the shop was able to get it there and just before I pulled in it started again and the same thing with the smoke.I got new rotors and pads for it now, what I have been told is....Because it got hot that it burnt the caliper(typical)however also that it overheated the bearing also causing the axle to get so hot that it flaked the axle metal and was told "that is common on SAABS that they used inferior metal to make there axles compared to ours(USA)"and now the axle will not take the spindle to hold the bearing or whatever also told me a new one was $1200 one from a scrap yard was $120 but not to use that cause it would be junk..said that they would have to regrind;weld;recoat mine for $200 and it should work but to get rid of it by fall cause the cars getting old..So any thoughts, experience or advise?Could this have happened? Thanks in advance!I hope to never get rid of our SAAB!
