You are correct about the rim width being too narrow. It is one of the problems with the early wheels as the 6" width is slim to none as to availability. I considered having a set of early steel rims made up with a 6" width then add a centre cap and or trim ring. I would suggest installing Air Lift bags in the rr springs to compensate when load carrying. On my '92, I have them with 195/60-15 tires mounted on 15"x6" rims & work very well. Saab did offer a receiver type hitch but they are hard to come by. Much cleaner look & less likely to damage your shins when not towing.
