Help, sudden no crank issue

So I back my 93 900S back into garage, change the oil, and when I go to start it up the ignition comes on but the starter is dead, nothing. I noted the trans was kinda stuck in reverse so I played around with it and freed it up but still no cranking. After trying different gear positions it is stuck in reverse again, I think I can free that up but whats casing the no crank? Is there a starter interlock in the trans?
thanks
