As you might have noticed I just made the 1st step in trionic conversion and I used about the same hall-effect sensor (in terms of electrical design) that is used in those dizzies. It had no shielding in stock and works fine: it doesn't jam other circuits nor it picks up anything aside.

Once again, what does shielding (in terms of EMI/RF) do?
- it protects this giving circuit from in-coming electromagnitic noise (like the cables used in oxygen sensor or knock sensor connections) since the signal that goes thru this shielded wire is very weak (read: of low voltage and\or current)
- it protects other circuits from electromagnetic noise generated by the signal that goes on this cable (spark plug wires should be a good example here)
- it does both kinds of protection (for VR CPS used in MY '94+ engines, wheel ABS sensors and so forth)

Hall-effect CPS doesn't create any significant amount of EMI/RFnoise cause of relatively low frequency and very low current. Also it's pretty well protected from incoming noise cause of its nature: square signal form and 12V amplitude.

So a shielding here is although a good feature - it's always good to shield wires and cables - but quite not mandatory.
