This also depends on how often you changed the brake fluid in the clutch system. I've had quite a few masters go bad but only a few slaves. The angular movement of the push rod tends to scratch the cylinder bore. The slave is annular and doesn't have any side pressure. If you're handy, you can rebuild the master with a kit but note you really need a flex hone to clean up the bore.
