When the system relay turn ON, the wire that powers the system relay coil flows through in parallel onto the fuel pump relay coil to give it power. The fuel pump relay needs a ground to activate the switch. ECU does it's grounding. Once the coil is energized, wouldn't testing the ground wire with the positive meter probe for the electrical meter at the relay ground and grounding the other negative probe to the body ground produce a voltage reading. The ground wire has voltage due to completeing the circuit. maybe over thinking, but my knowledge of DC current says you need a complete circuit. If you took a voltage meter to your car battery, you would get 12 volts either way you hookedup the meter. Dianostic electrical checking has given me hands-on knowledge of how everything function on the Injection system.
