'79-'86 Euro H4 Subtitutes... gauging interest Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] (#32) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Justin VanAbrahams) on Tue, 29 Jan 2013 14:29:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi folks -
For a LONG time the scarcity of the early c900 H4s has been bugging me. If I lose a glass lens, it's over! I've got a great idea for a solution, I'm just missing a little fabrication ability. I met someone who can handle the fabrication, so what I'm looking for is to see if this is just something for me, or if a small run would be warranted.
What you'd need: Real Euro-spec H4 headlights for a '79 to '86 c900
What you get: A replacement clear plastic lens, and a replacement housing to go in place of the reflector. Light would come from (most likely) a pair of DOT-approved projector-style modular lights, probably a 90mm high beam and a 60mm low beam. You could run H1 style traditional bulbs or pick up an HID kit.
The point of this setup would be to work around the scarcity of good lenses and reflectors, while providing a substantially higher quality light. The goal would be to not wreck any aspect of the original parts, so if you wanted to reinstall your H4 reflectors and lenses you could do that,
The price for the kit would be in the $400-$500 range. Considering the cost of a good used set of e-code lights, and the fact it's modern lighting and not c1980 lighting, I think it'd be a good value. It is for me, anyway.
So, that leads me to: Any other interest?
