You mentioned that it's the ECU that sets the timing. And lots more.
And they do sometimes go bad.
No way should a cap, wires, rotor or plugs or anything else related to the spark go bad in 5 days. And oil in distributor is ugly but shouldn't affect anything either.
Doubt your new tuneups are what's temporarily fixing things, instead I think it's a coincidence, or you're jarring some connection by accident that's really where things are wrong. Wire from crank sensor, maybe?
I'd say look elsewhere and ECU might be a place to look. Get or borrow a compatible spare one and try it. And trace and wiggle wire from crank sensor.
