if it sounds too good to be true, probably something's not quite right... I avoid the cheap stuff (probably including the $1 spatulas - ha)... at least with car parts that have anything to do with safety or any extensive amount of labour involved, oem, or well known quality option is best imho... it doesn't save money to buy something twice over...
unfortunately the business model in China is to undercut on price (and cost), saturate the market at a low price point, killing the original supplier's business, in short killing them... often leaving no option... but if they get bad enough, people will stop buying and if it's something people need, a better quality option will fill the void... I think we are seeing that in various domains... but it can cause some real headaches... better to stick to known good suppliers than just always be on the lookout for something cheap... often one gets what one pays for...
