I don't have the bently right here, but iirc, 12.7V is full charge. 12.5V is maybe 70%, and 12.2V is pretty darn low, like might not start the car low. I'm just going by memory (someone with the bently handy could probably reproduce the chart), but I'm pretty sure if you measure 12V across the battery disconnected, it's pretty much completely drained.
Always good to check the condition of battery and alternator cables if one experiences charging problems!
