With the cable removed from the motor side of the housing, you can slip the cable end into the chuck of an electric drill. Voila, power to half of the seat back.
Good way to confirm that they're synced is to test the seat-back release lever, if it's a convertible or 3 door. This is the lever that flops the seat forward for access to the rear seat. If it releases smoothly and easily they're synced well. I learned the hard way after repairing the sable sleeves that they weren't perfectly aligned and it's very difficult to get the seat back lever to release.
