Alternator bearings, sizes and ID's Posted by Cmyles [Email] (#1126) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Cmyles) on Sat, 12 Sep 2015 20:05:33 In Reply to: Re: Anybody know part numbers for the alternator bearings?, LJS, Sat, 12 Sep 2015 16:25:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I was thinking it was two 6203 bearings BUT now I think that alternator has one 6203 2rs and one B17-99 2rs (2rs just means it has 2 neoprene seals). You can't go wrong by just disassembling the alternator and reading the tiny little numbers on the bearings or measuring them in millimeters. You won't even need to extract them to do that just separate the case so that you can see and measure them. The 6203 2rs is a very common bearing that you can get at auto parts stores (6203 measures 17 mm bore, 40 mm outer diameter and 12 mm wide). The Napa store here has SKF brand but Nachi, FAG, Timkin are all good brands and there are others. You may have to order the B17-99 on line if that's what is in there. It measures 17 mm bore, 52 mm outer diameter and 17 mm wide. The 6203 in a good brand will be about $10 and the B17-99 2rs might be like $20-30. Still cheaper and better than a rebuilt alternator with low grade bearings.
