Trying to narrow things down to the right part to fix/replace...
As of last year, my '92 900S (2.1L NA, 5sp, 180K miles) is no longer my daily driver. So I'm only driving on the weekends, mainly. Anyway...
3 weeks ago, highways speed, a hiccup or two over a 20 mile trip.
2 weeks ago, after about 10 miles, hiccup, then a cough, then later while coasting to a stop sign, rpms dropped to a very low 400-500 rough idle. Coughed and lurched to the next stop sign where I countered the low idle with some throttle. That eventually got me home.
1 week ago, fine for about a mile. Then same as above. Stalling out at the stop signs, lots of restarts to get home. Strange thing is - once I round the corner for home, it behaves. Calms down. Idles normal. Parked up in the garage just fine. Just starting the car, it will sit and idle fine - with no problems. Only under engine load in 3rd gear or higher at speed puts it in this state of lurching, stalling out.
I've recently replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor before any such issues. Pulled all those to reinspect. All fine. Late last year I replaced fuel pump as well, when the original pump died.
Any ideas? Air Mass Meter? AIC valve?
Thanks for any advice,
Brian
