Before you start rewiring buy a can of "LockSaver" at any good locksmith's. Fill the lock assy, work it with the key, and , using a towel, blow it out with compressed air, and repeat a couple of times. It all depends what's down there. If that does not work it may be a sugary soda so pour water in it (don't worry, the electrical part is several inches forward of where the key goes in)and repeat the process. If that fails, dry it out with air and try LPS#1.If still no luck (and I speak from experience) it may be a pena collatta and if you find something that dissolves that, please post it cause I have not a clue!
