Lug Bolt - 85 900 Turbo - Reminded me why I love these cars 1 Saabers Like This Post! Posted by Fogline [Email] (#1152) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Fogline) on Thu, 4 Jun 2020 17:23:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I recently went to get my tires changed and was told they wouldn't do it due to a stripped out lug nut. I was worried about a lot of things with this task, but had forgotten about that issue.
Rather than going to another shop that could change it out, like many people, I turned here but couldn't find much about the difficulty of the job, so resorted to youtube ( like pretty much everyone too lazy to pick up a manual). After watching a few videos, including one with a guy cutting out the dust plate and grinding off one side of the bolt to get it to slide back in, I felt I was ready to tackle the job.
Needless to say, I was quite relieved to find plenty of room behind the disk (after removing the brakes and hanging them up for safety and removing the brake disk) to tap the old one out and slide the press the new one in (using washers for leverage). Makes you wonder about those other guys making it so hard. Maybe it isn't in all cars, but this job took longer to find the right tools than to actually complete the job. Thanks SAAB engineers of yesteryear!
