I don't know about the square plug unit but I put a later one with flat plug in an early car a long time ago. As I remember, the wire colors matched up, but when I pushed the accel button it just continued to accelerate til I shut the system off.Wish I could remember more details, but it was 30 yrs ago. Just keep your hand on the switch when you first try it!
