Coil resistance tests from Bentley -numbers Posted by Rose quartz 87 [Email] (#2119) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Rose quartz 87) on Wed, 10 Nov 2021 12:15:13 In Reply to: Re: Strange occasional hot idle misfire, 2nd Owner [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 3 Nov 2021 04:33:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So just tested the coil resistance with engine cold.
-According to Bentley:
Between terminals 1 and 15 (positive and negative) = 0.5 to 0.9 Ohms.
Mine is 0.9 Ohms
Between terminals 1 and center tower = 7,200 to 8,200 Ohms
Mine is 10,003 Ohms.
So the secondary coil winding looks to be out of spec.
Not being an electrical expert by any stretch of the imagination, does this mean that this greater resistance in the secondary circuit is causing a weaker spark? Is it time for a new coil?
Thanks again for reading.
