Hello,
I would usually start with resetting the throttle plate. Cleaning, loosening the stop, loosening the throttle position switch and getting it set up so that the throttle position switch reads closed when closed. You might also want to check the pins for corrosion even on the boot side. Also being an 1987 I think it should have a dash pot that slows the last bit of throttle closing. Does it work properly?Let us know if you have tried all those and we might come up with some other things to check. Good Luck, Bernie
