Well, first a heartfelt, "Thank You" to all who took time out of their day to help me out. I have since replaced the coil with a "known to be good" coil. Still nothing. I have 12V at the + on the coil with key on. Re-checked all grounds..AGAIN! (ya just never know with these old Swedes!) Checked all fuses and related relays in the l/s engine bay fuse box. All seems fine there. The cap and rotor, (Bosch) were new on the new motor and don't have ten miles on them. Let me just recap a bit here and see if this can put anyone on a different scent. Here goes: When the SPG motor failed and threw the rod bearing at high speed, I had to have it towed home. The next day, I was able to start it and move it around my driveway, noisy as it was. I started it again a month later to pull it into my garage for the winter to begin the process of the motor swap. It ran again, but the rapping was horrible. Once in the garage, I decided, (I don't know why) to pull plug wires while running, one at a time to see if I could tell which cylinder threw the rod bearing. I just randomly chose the number three cylinder, pulled the plug wire...and it stalled. No matter how many times I tried again that day, it never started again. I don't know what this story proves, but a completely smoked bearing wouldn't stop it from running but pulling one spark plug wire while running permanently killed it! I had a sneaking suspicion that would come to haunt me again once I had the new motor installed. I should mention that the "donor" motor ran just perfect in the car I pulled it from, which was also my car. So, there is all the pertinent info I can think of. As I mentioned earlier, electrical trouble shooting is my Achille's heel with cars...even after 45 years as an Icar, GM, Honda, Subaru certified autobody tech. I do have a few mechanic friends, but they are a bit hesitant when they know that the problems are happening on a 32-year-old SAAB. They're not exactly chomping at the bit to get involved, if you know what I mean. That's it. Please send help! ....and Thanks again for your efforts! Bob
