It Wasn't the Harmonic Balancer! Yesterday I had some time so jacked up the car and marked the pulley. I started it and ran it for a minute or so, blipping the throttle. Lot's of squealing for sure! I then checked the pulley and the mark hadn't moved!
I restarted the car and checked under the hood- the alternator was jumping all around! So I decided to pull it out. First time for me and I didn't really care for the job. I pulled the water hoses above it, moved the throttle cable, and used a bungee to pull the AC hose out of the way. Then I did the classic procedure of removing the alternator with the bracket. The two bracket bushings were worn and the one on the tensioner arm was totally shot. I had new ones ready, so replaced them and put everything back together. Couldn't get the bottom bracket 6MM hex bolt started for a while, but it finally went in. No more squeal! I also pulled the regulator and checked the brushes, which were within spec- no sense putting it back without checking.
Thanks for the advice on the balancer. Hopefully, I won't need to fix that for a while...
