You are right. I had forgotten that my 1993 Conv has a 4 position control in the dash. Never paid much attention, as it doesn't work.
The thermistor is only used on the drivers side on the 1991 onwards. These can turn to dust with age. I doubt anyone has a spec for it and the simple controller looks to be a relay type device build into the dash switch. Possibly with an amplifier as there is a ground on the controller.
Probably the easy way to find a substitute is a variable resistor between the blue and black wires on the seat connector and see what values the power to the yellow power wire goes on and off for the three active switch settings. This will also let you know that the controller works and check the heating element too.
You can then pick a thermistor for temperatures that seem most sensible for each setting from the catalog. This does not need to be a precision job. With a bit of Ohms Law you can make a simple resistive pad too and tweak this curve.
I would be tempted to fix mine but it is probably the element or controller (or everything!). I am too nervous to take the seat apart again while the leather is still holding together!
It would not be hard to re-engineer the controller for anyone who can do a small amount of analog electronics, if the switch itself was still working. May be more trouble than it is worth to get the seat heater to work!
