The seam on my driver's seat has been unraveling for sometime along with a few other spots. The seat is a grey leather 900T seat out of a '88 SPG. I was going to remove the seat and take it to an upholstery shop but after searching the TSN archives I found a wonderful procedure for r/r 900 leather seat upholstery by Charles Stoyer 11/5/95.
I only had to remove the seat bottom and resew the leather. The procedure was excellent. The only deviations I had were, loosening the side nuts/torx screws on both sides to slip the cover off. The seat bottom has a piece of wire sewn around the perimeter. There are hooks that go through the seat bottom and attach to this wire. There are seven in all this is what holds the seat down in the center.
Total time to remove the seat, sew it and replace was about three hours. I would recommend seaching the archives or the FAQ's before embarking on your project as procedures may already exist.
Thank you Charles Stoyer.
