When I bought my '89 900T, it still had the stock radio and everything. I couldn't believe Saab had Clarion factory! But, needless to say I had to have a CD player, so I commenced to replacing it with a Pioneer DEH-10. Well, the Pioneer apparently has a much higher wattage than Clarion, because all four of the speakers soon started making bad scratching sounds. I replaced the two 3" in the front with Jensen, and they have worked great. I disconnected the 4X10's and had some generic-brand truck speakers hooked up to the rear leads for some time. My Pyramid 4x10's arrived today, and I just finished installing them. Sitting in the hatchback I have two 10" Jensen subs hooked up to a 300 watt Jensen amp.
I did not spend very much on this total, it has been an on-going project for quite some time. In fact, i've had the subwoofers for over a year now, and I have only had the car for about 6 months. Since I am still in high school money is not flowing out my ears, otherwise I would have went top-of-the-line on everything and I would have had it all professionally installed. As it is though, the result is a great sounding car (in my opionion) with plenty of sound! My goal was not to blow my ear drums with 10000+ watts, nor to spend my whole life's savings. My goal was to get a decent system while spending as little money as possible. Well, i'm done ranting for now!
