I was in the same situation about a month ago - clutch started to slip, so come'on, let's do it.

I settled on a complete stock clutch. HOwever, I did upgrade to an aluminum flywheel, which was crazy expensive, but very cool. About 10lbs, where stock is 22ish.

I also considered Centreforce, but several issues:
-price
-availability - not that great
-replacement parts - say one day you just need the disc, then what? HOw long will you have to wait to get one?
-weight - I'm told the Centreforce is quite heavy

I'd say replace the pressure plate with a stock unit, and if you must, upgrade to a better clutch disc. MSS makes some cool ones, 'turbo' and 'competition' spec, while of course Swedish Dynamics has a couple too.

There was also talk of upgrade to a 9k, ie later style clutch and flywheel. The difference is a 10mm or 15mm increase in diameter, so you get more surface area. And that means getting a totally new clutch and flywheel, whereas you might be able to stick with the same pressure plate you have now, if you need to keep things cheap. However, if you do go to the larger clutch, I don't think you can use the MSS discs because these are for the older, smaller clutches.

As I said, I did my clutch a little while ago, drove it, then I think I must have left a nut or something in the intercooler pipes because the next thing I knew, my turbo was chewed up - turbine housing cracked in three places, a couple turbine fins missing. Now I have the power...Turbonetics done T3/60 trim turbo. Cool man...you wanna waste that S4, here's whatcha need... :)

My next project is to do the bottom end, custom pistons, etc etc. And at that point, I think I will go to one of MSS' uprated discs.
