Frank-
Welcome! And glad you like your saab so far!
I'll take a stab at a few of your questions. As mentioned, OG 900 means the "old generation." Often referred to as Classis 900's. SPG = Special Performance Group. This was a special version of the turbo model. All SPG's have the three-spoke wheels and ground effects. Also, depending on the year, they can have different (lower) suspention setups and a slightly higher-performance engine, due to a different APC box. See the link below for a lot of info on the different 900 models produced.
As far as your boost problem, as Justin stated, more info is really needed to diagnose the problem. How far on the boost gauge does the needle go? When it cuts back, how far back down does it go? Does it act choppy, or is it smooth? The APC drops pressure off gradually as RPMs get high. If the needle acts choppy, it is probably the knock detector kicking in. What grade of fuel are you using? Be sure your timing is set correctly, too.
A general tune-up could very well wolve the boost problem, and is probably a good idea regardless. While you are in there, get a head start on something you'll probably eventually end up doing, and replace any vaccuum hoses that are deteriorated or cracked. Fixing vaccuum leaks can cure a lot of mysterios problems. Silicone hoses are the way to go, you'll never replace them again. I don't remember the size required (I think it is 3.5mm) but several of the sponsors of this site can sell you the right stuff.
PS - as I've recently learned, it is probably a good idea to zip-tie all the hoses coming off the manifold, even the ones that aren't loose. I had one instantly develop servere loosness a few days ago (it popped off with a flourish.) Wish I'd tied everything to the manifold earlier, it all seemed perfect before this happened.
