Cruise Problem

I have been stymied by my imtermittent cruise control. It will engage when it feels like it. When it engages, it works fine. The vacuum side is fine. Pump works and holds vacuum. I get solid signals from the brake light and the 2 pedal switches. The stalk switches work fine. Ground is solid. I drive around and try to make it work. I have been monitoring the sopeed signal to the unit. On my car, teh speed signal generator is screwed to the speedo. It generates a good solid 6V and my multimeter sees a frequency when we are driving which varies with speed. There is a green wire from the signal generator which does not go to the control unit (it is siamesed with the blue wire which does go to the cruise). Does anyone know where it goes? I have verified that it does not go to the SRS unit.
All I can guess is that this used control module is intermittent also. The original control unit worked intermittently. This one does too. Any other help appreciated. I am to the point of rewiring the unit to use one of the pre 92 cruise units as these are cheaper and more plentiful.
