You might want to check (or have someone check) to examine the condition of the slip ring and brushes on the alternator.
The brushes are part of what is called the voltage regulator. Depending on the condition of the slip ring which is what the carbide "brushes" rub against to generate the charge, you may only have to replace the voltage regulator ($70+) or have the whole alternator rebuilt which is usually just over $100 but includes a new voltage regulator but not likely to be a Bosch part.
I recently had my alternator rebuilt and EVERYTHING seems to work better or faster.
It is definitley worth a peek if you have just purchased the car since you don't want to be stuck on a boony highway in the middle of a rainstorm on Easter weekend like I was last year.
Best of luck
