Those are great cars but there are some weaknesses. The water pump is driven by an auxiliary shaft in the engine. These pumps often fail and require special tools to R+R. If the pump is removed or installed incorrectly, the auxiliary shaft will be damaged and the engine must be removed and partially disassembled to repair (ask me how I know). The cylinder head is prone to cracking so the cooling system must be properly maintained. Look for cooling system residue on all hoses, clamps and connections.
The wiring is another issue, inspect the insulation carefully for drying/cracking. The fuse box uses the old style ceramic fuses and often the fuse box terminals themselves corrode causing all sorts of electrical mayhem. Test everything electrical.
Otherwise, all the usual classic 900 pre-purchase advice applies here. Transmission should be the biggest concern, followed by wheelwell and shock tower rust and assessment of maintainence history. Take it for a loooong test drive, mixing highway and rural driving. Be sure to take it up to at least 70 mph. Take some sharp turns at full-lock in a parking lot. Do some hard braking. Do some heavy acceleration to test the turbo (look for smoke!) you should see around 3/4 yellow on the turbo gauge. Beware if the engine was warmed up before you arrive to test drive. Best to test drive from a cold start as these cars can develop cold-start problems. Paying an experienced SAAB tech $100 for a thorough inspection is the smartest move you can make if you are serious about purchase.
68K sounds sweet. If the car checks out, it is probably worth $2000-$2500.
