How do I remove taillight circuit board from wiring harness

I tried re-routing the ground as described in the common questions area, but I still have the same symptoms. I want to totally remove the taillight assb'y to clean contacts or if needed replace the board. I figure it must have something to do with the small rectangular holes on where the wiring plugs in but I don't want to force it and break the clips. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks
